active ingredients: aciclovir and hydrocortisone.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eAciclovir is a virus inhibitor that helps fight the virus that causes cold sores.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eHydrocortisone is a weak steroid that reduces the inflammation associated with cold sores.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eActivir Duo Cream is used in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older to treat the early signs and symptoms (e.g. tingling, itching or redness) of cold sores on the lips and the skin around the lips to reduce the risk reduce the formation of a blister.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eEven if your cold sore has turned into a blister, Activir Duo will shorten the healing process by approximately half a day to a day compared to the inactive cream.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eA cold sore is caused by the so-called herpes simplex virus.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eThe virus causes blisters and sores primarily on the lips but sometimes on other parts of the face.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eA cold sore can develop when the body's immune system is weakened, e.g.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eB. if you have a cold or other infection.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eStress, strong sunlight, cold temperatures or menstrual bleeding can also trigger a cold sore.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eContraindications\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDo not use Activir Duo if you are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir, hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6) and for skin infections other than cold properly (e.g. if you have had a bone marrow transplant or have AIDS\/HIV) or if you have been diagnosed with a weakened immune
