No increased risk of malformations or other birth defects was observed in 363 children whose mothers were treated with topical glucocorticoids (applied to the skin) during pregnancy. A number of epidemiological studies suggest that there may be an increased risk of cleft lip and palate in newborns of women treated with systemic (e.g. oral) glucocorticoids during the first three months of pregnancy.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eGiven the low exposure after application to the skin, Soventol Hydrocortisone Acetate can be used during pregnancy after careful benefit-risk assessment, but use on large areas or for long periods of time and airtight dressings should be avoided.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn general, topical use of corticoid-containing preparations should be avoided in the first trimester of pregnancy.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBreastfeeding\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIf you are breastfeeding, you must not apply Soventol hydrocortisone acetate to the breast area to avoid direct contact between the baby and the active ingredient.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBefore using any medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eApplication\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAlways use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.
